Joseph W. White

Joseph W. White, Commandant, Passaic County Detachment of the Marine Corps League joined Passaic County Detachment in 1974, 49 years ago.  Passaic County Detachment turned 89 years old on December 4, 2023.  (Charter date Dec. 4, 1933).  

Joe has been Commandant many times through the year and has held other offices.  He was a Dept. of NJ Officer, including Service Officer, Legislative Aid, and Public Relations. He was a member of the MCL State Color Guard, which during the Bicentennial marched in many parades all over the state. He was an organizer of the American Heritage Festival in Holmdel at the Garden State Arts Center. 

Joe enlisted in the Marine Corps in 1966.  He served 13 months in Vietnam with the Marine Combined Action Company in Quang Nam Province.  He served as an interpreter with the Ngia Quin Vietnamese. He learned the language while working with the people of that country. Following Vietnam, he served on two Caribbean cruises. 

Joe has been married to his wife, Linda for 48 years.  He has a daughter, Diane; son-in-law, David; and granddaughter, Caitlin.
